This research explores the economic consequences of cybersecurity vulnerabilities in decentralized blockchain-based ecosystems. With Web3 protocols exhibiting higher surface and asset exposure compared to traditional digital infrastructures, the project quantifies the financial impact of security breaches using comprehensive on-chain data. By linking attack vectors to value loss and market reactions, the research informs the development of risk assessment frameworks and regulatory guidelines. Particular attention is paid to how Web3 cybersecurity risks influence insurance pricing models and risk premia.
This line of research investigates how decentralized market structures reshape traditional economic behavior, with a focus on the creator economy, the strategic deployment of resale royalties and other new Web3 phenomena. For example, in Web3, creators often opt for innovative distribution strategies such as airdrops rather than conventional sales, potentially triggering secondary market appreciation and loyalty effects. Using empirical analysis, I examine how these mechanisms alter user incentives, market liquidity, and long-term value creation, contrasting with established Web2 monetization models.
In the evolving digital economy and emerging "Internet of Value," Phygitals (i.e., integrated bundles of physical goods and digital counterparts) are reshaping product and competitive strategies. This research explores bundling strategies that leverage the superadditive utility of Phygitals, considering integration costs and varying degrees of physical-digital tethering. Moreover, it explores how Phygitals affect market design, competition, and pricing, including implications for ownership, secondary resale markets and its implications on consumers.
